The 5 Best Schools for Singing Lessons in London That Helped Us Find Our Voice

  • Instructor Qualifications: I prioritised studios where coaches hold formal music degrees or certified training in recognised vocal models. This ensures you learn proper vocal mechanics from a qualified expert.
  • Vocal Health Focus: Protecting your voice from long-term damage is essential during intensive training. I selected instructors who design technical exercises to safely expand your range without tension.
  • Studio Infrastructure: Having access to high-quality audio setups and acoustic treatment dramatically enhances your regular practice sessions. I verified that each location provides suitable equipment for recording and monitoring your voice.
  • Progress Tracking: I evaluated how effectively each academy helps students hit their personal goals over time. Our choices reflect places with a proven track record of building lasting confidence in their clients.

Every singer starts somewhere. I learned this the hard way the first time I tried to sing in front of other people.

My “powerful performance” turned into shaky notes, awkward breathing, and a sudden appreciation for anyone brave enough to hold a microphone. I left thinking maybe singing well was just something you were born with.

But after a few more attempts and finding some standout coaches around in our city, I realised learning to sing doesn’t have to feel so intimidating.

Whether you’re trying to beat stage fright at an open mic or preparing for a serious West End audition, these singing lessons in London can help you find your voice and hit your goals!

How much does a singing lesson cost in London?

The cost of singing lessons in London typically ranges from £25 to £145 per hour, depending on the coach’s experience, lesson format, and specialisation.

Address: 48 Great Marlborough Street

Contact: Ed Staunton: 07900 694 701; Anna Stubbs: 07958 971 083

Hours: Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday: 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Soho Vocal Tuition focuses on one-on-one Speech Level Singing sessions designed to connect your vocal registers smoothly.

I like that each lesson is tailored to your actual voice and goals, which is helpful for beginners struggling with high notes or throat tension.

The instructor’s teaching style also stands out. During my first visit to their basement space, they used straightforward diagnostic scales to find where my voice naturally flipped.

Since every session is personalised, there’s no pressure to follow repetitive, generic warm-ups. You work on simple, practical adjustments that make vocal technique easier to understand.

They also encourage students to record their practice, so you can track weekly progress at home.

The only drawback is that they only offer individual lessons, so you’ll need to look elsewhere if you prefer group classes.

Pros

  • Tailored lessons based on personal goals
  • Helps with high notes and tension
  • Uses clear vocal diagnostic scales
  • Practical adjustments simplify vocal technique
  • Encourages recordings to track progress

Cons

  • No group classes are available

Anna is a brilliant singing teacher

i started having singing lessons with Anna Stubbs in November 2017. They have provided a magnificent training. Her approach is progressive, and she provides a 15 minute summary of each lesson at the end. This provides the basis for future exercises.  As a result I have been able to practice every day since then (its now late March) and the effects on my voice have been remarkable. I had assumed that I did not have a real singing voice, but now I have discovered one, at the age of 75! Anna is a brilliant singing teacher.

The lessons are fun

I came to Soho Vocal Tuition at the start of the year as an actor looking to broaden my skill set. Working with Anna over the last few months has certainly see that happen. Using a range of muscle strengthening techniques I have seen not only my singing voice improve but also the strength of my natural speaking voice! Both of which has led me to having successes in auditions! The lessons are fun, and you get to work on a selection of songs that personally suit your voice. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

  • Holistic training approach

I’m really happy with how things have been going

I’ve been taking singing lessons with Anna since last year, and I’m really happy with how things have been going. The lessons are fun and relaxed, which helped me a lot at the beginning to build confidence and stay motivated. At the same time, Anna keeps them challenging and well structured — from exercises to songs and bits of music theory — so they always feel balanced, interesting, and inspiring. I can clearly hear my progress, I know exactly what to work on, and I’m especially excited to be learning how to accompany myself on the piano. Thanks Anna!

Would recommend her to anyone looking for a singing teacher

I have been really enjoying my lessons with Antonia from the London Singing Institute! It’s going great! I have been singing 5 ABRSM songs in preparation to take my grade 7 exam! She is a wonderful teacher who gives great feedback but also the positives – week to week I am definitely improving and getting my confidence back! Would recommend her to anyone looking for a singing teacher!

I love how I can be very calm with her

I have truly enjoyed my classes so far with Emmi, I love how I can be very calm with her and her aura is great as well. She is an amazing singer herself and knows exactly what I’m doing wrong and right. I truly think my singing has also improved a lot as well. I hope to continue these classes and be at my best ability and it’ll be all thanks to her 💜.
