1. SOAK Bathhouse

soak-bathhouse

Website: https://www.soakbathhouse.co.uk/

Areas Served: Mobile canal-boat sauna on London’s waterways

Contact: Instagram: @soak_sauna

Hours: Book to schedule an appointment

Stepping onto a repurposed canal boat, SOAK Bathhouse gives you a completely off-grid floating experience. This unique setup uses fire, sun, and water to power everything on board.

We love how it swaps the typical indoor spa setting for something far more memorable. Service-wise, you get a full contrast therapy session here with cold plunges and hot showers.

The quiet atmosphere also makes it easy to reset away from the busy city noise. You can even hire the whole boat for a group of twelve people!

But since the boat moves around the waterways, this mobile format might frustrate you if you prefer a fixed location.

Additionally, you have to book your appointment in advance to secure a spot.

Pros

  • Distinctive floating format
  • Great for private group hire
  • Quiet off-grid atmosphere
  • Full contrast therapy setup

Cons

  • Mobile format; may not suit those into fixed location
  • Requires advanced booking

I loved how there are big windows in the sauna

We booked out the whole boat for a special occasion and I couldn’t recommend it more! Everything worked so well and Leo was super nice and helpful hosting us. I loved how there are big windows in the sauna, so you can look look out on the water while relaxing in there. Its a really unique experience unlike anything else in London. Will definitely be back!

We absolutely loved the sauna and cold plunges

A group of us booked the whole barge for part of a big celebration, and it was our favourite part of the whole weekend! The design is gorgeous, and the team were incredibly welcoming. We absolutely loved the sauna and cold plunges. The refreshments bar is super cool – frozen grapes and bespoke healthy hydration drinks. So so cool. I will definitely be booking again for both solo and group bookings. Big fan.

Website: https://banyalondon.co.uk/

Address: 1 Grosvenor Gardens

Contact: 020 3906 2060; [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Saturday: 10:00 AM-11:00 PM; Sunday: 10:00 AM-10:00 PM

For a traditional Russian experience, The Bath House offers an authentic banya right in Belgravia. You’ll get a reserved table in the lounge before trying traditional treatments like parenie and organic scrubs.

When we spoke to a recent visitor, she told us the intense heat followed by an icy plunge pool instantly melted their tension away. She also highlighted the fun experience of hiring a private room for their small group.

If you often see physiotherapists in London for muscle recovery, a banya session can also be a relaxing addition.

Plus, the long opening hours make it easy to visit after a late shift.

The main downside is the lack of early morning slots. The intense banya style may also feel like too much if you prefer a gentler steam.

Pros

  • Authentic Russian banya experience
  • Intense heat aids muscle recovery
  • Conveniently long opening hours
  • Private room hire available

Cons

  • No early morning appointments
  • Heat may feel too intense

Customer Reviews

The sauna and cold plunge were excellent and very refreshing

I had a wonderful spa day at Banya London. The team were really kind and welcoming, and took care of us throughout. The sauna and cold plunge were excellent and very refreshing. I also had a full body massage, one of the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend it!

The sauna is hotter than a regular gym sauna, so it really hits the spot

The atmosphere is very unique—no Instagrammers, just people genuinely enjoying themselves. The place is spotless and well organized. You’re assigned a table at the start, so you can return to it at any point.

The sauna is hotter than a regular gym sauna, so it really hits the spot. Parenye will absolutely blow you away. The sensation of breathing air cooled by a cold mint towel placed on your face while feeling the heat being blown onto you by the veniks is something I had never experienced before.

3. Sauna Social Club

Website: https://www.saunasocialclub.co.uk/

Address: Railway Arch 842, Brayards Road, Peckham

Contact: [email protected]

Hours: Book to schedule appointment

If you want to socialise while you sweat, Sauna Social Club mixes Finnish heat therapy with ambient music. They offer different rooms, including an ambient sauna and an essential sauna, so you can choose the setting that suits your mood.

The experience goes beyond the sauna, too. They host live music events and breathwork sessions that add something extra to your visit.

Plus, you can get a monthly membership and book any session on their schedule.

What really makes the place stand out is the social atmosphere. Unlike a quiet spa, you’re actually encouraged to chat and meet people while you relax.

But since the venue serves low-alcohol drinks and hosts large social events, no one under 18 is allowed inside. Dogs also aren’t allowed in the yard or lounge areas.

Pros

  • Welcoming community atmosphere
  • Live music and breathwork
  • Various sauna types available
  • Flexible membership options

Cons

  • Strictly an 18+ venue
  • No dogs permitted

Customer Reviews

It’s the kind of place that makes you feel better just walking in

I’ve been a member from day 1 and it genuinely never gets old. The facilities are brilliant — the sauna is properly hot, the plunge pool does exactly what it should, and the whole space feels considered and well looked after. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel better just walking in.

What makes it special though is the vibe between sessions. There’s a lovely spot to grab a coffee, open your laptop, and actually get some work done — which sounds odd for a wellness space, but it works perfectly.

Loved the evening sauna after such a  long day

Loved the evening sauna after such a  long day. The calming of your mind and body is breathtaking.  Social sauna club allows the comfort of shared conversations. Hot sauna is quiet, allowing the heat and music to flow in combination. Water pools are freshing to all that we are. The rejuvenation repairs parts you felt has long since being ignored my dance injuries i have flourish

Fans of the classic parenie ritual will love how Banya No.1 delivers a dedicated wellness spa experience. You can choose from men-only, women-only, or mixed sessions, depending on your comfort level.

When we spoke to a recent visitor, they told us the thermal massage with birch twigs helped ease their stubborn back pain. The spa also provides private booths, so you can rest comfortably between heat rounds.

Plus, the generous daily hours make it easy to fit a visit into a busy schedule.

Just remember, cancellations made within 72 hours aren’t refundable. Additionally, the strong focus on Russian traditions may disappoint you if you’re looking for a simple gym-style sauna instead.

Pros

  • Authentic parenie ritual
  • Private booths for resting
  • Men, women, and mixed sessions

Cons

  • Strict 72-hour cancellation policy
  • Lacks other sauna styles

Customer Reviews

I am so glad I went, can’t wait to go again

Was here this morning and the whole experience was amazing. I was intimidated by the sauna at first but ended up never wanting to get out. The staff were all to kind and the facilities were beautiful. The treatments made me feel like a new person ❤️ I am so glad I went, can’t wait to go again.

The sauna itself was exceptional

The actual treatments were absolutely amazing. The traditional Russian treatment was awesome. Unorthodox but very relaxing. The massage and scrub was also great. Our massage therapists were both amazing. The sauna itself was exceptional. And the food was also surprisingly great. Make sure to get the Kvass and the dumplings. I highly recommend any person who visits London or lives in London to check this place out. It’s truly an experience I will remember.

5. Lowlu North London Sauna Village

lowlu-north-london-sauna-village

Website: https://lowlu.com/locations/kentish-town

Address: 44 Caversham Rd

Contact: Booking via the Lowlu website or app

Hours: Mon – Sun, 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Built for fast muscle recovery, Lowlu North London offers a huge outdoor village-style setup. With five saunas and six cold plunge pools, this spot can handle busy weekends without feeling overcrowded.

Plus, the open-air design keeps the whole experience feeling fresh and spacious. You’ll also find hot showers and dedicated relaxation areas where you can unwind after a heavy workout.

And thanks to the large capacity, you rarely have to wait long for a spot.

However, the outdoor setup means there’s less cosy shelter than you’d get at a high-end indoor spa. To add, it can be confusing to find the right venue since they run multiple locations across the city.

Pros

  • Large outdoor village format
  • Multiple saunas and cold pools
  • Dedicated relaxation zones
  • Great for straightforward recovery

Cons

  • Lacks high-end indoor pampering
  • Multiple locations can cause confusion

I can confidently recommend this to anyone looking for an authentic sauna

As a Finnish sauna lover, I can confidently recommend this to anyone looking for an authentic sauna experience in London. I am very glad it is not temporarily sauna and will visit soon again definitely.

A small thing, would be nicer if you can set up the water for drinking.

Couldn’t recommend it more – top tier hour spent!

Truly had a one of a kind experience with the newly open Sauna in Kentish Town! Lots of option for different temperatures both for sauna and plunge! Big plus for the heated changing rooms. Couldn’t recommend it more – top tier hour spent!
