5 Best Omakase Spots in London Where Every Course Feels Like a Show

Ingredient Quality: I looked for counters that source exceptional seafood, authentic aged soy sauce, and fresh root wasabi. Strong venues use sustainable local produce and seasonal fish flown in from Japan.

Chef Craftsmanship: Knife work, rice temperature, and pressing technique define a great sushi master. So I checked how well each chef balances tradition with creative touches.

Atmosphere and Intimacy: Seating capacity shapes how personal a meal feels. That's why I favored intimate venues with fewer seats and a front-row view of the preparation.

Value for Money: High prices need flawless execution, generous courses, and attentive service. I checked whether each experience justifies its price tag.

An anniversary dinner at a highly rated Japanese restaurant felt incredibly rushed and chaotic last winter. The chef slapped expensive tuna onto cold rice and hurried us out within an hour.

That disappointing evening proved that a premium tasting menu requires intimate pacing and true culinary craftsmanship, rather than just luxury ingredients

I wanted to find authentic artisans who respect the craft, so I visited intimate counters and talked to regular diners about their experiences to find the best omakase in London.

Below is my guide to the restaurants that elevate raw seafood into art!

How much does omakase cost in London?

A London omakase starts around £40 for a lunch menu. Ultra-luxury dinners can top £420 per person.

TierDescriptionAverage Cost
Budget & Entry-LevelQuick lunch or 6 to 9 course menus£40 to £100
Mid-Range & SignatureStandard 12 to 20 course evening counters£160 to £275
High-End & Ultra-LuxuryPrestige menus with caviar, wagyu, and rare seafood£300 to £420+

1. Luna Omakase

Website: https://www.luna-omakase.com/

Address: 9th Floor, 100 Liverpool Street, EC2M 2AT

Contact: 020 7225 2502

Hours: Tuesday-Wednesday: 7:00 PM seating; Thursday-Friday: 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM seatings

Luna Omakase stood out to me with its intimate setting. The 12-seat Sosaku-style Edomae counter sits on the ninth floor at 100 Liverpool Street, giving you a calmer alternative to some of the busier City venues.

The atmosphere feels calm and considered, while the food and service add to the overall experience.

Their 12-course tasting menu changes with the lunar cycle, and I like the creative techniques used with the fish, including curing and aging.

The entire menu is gluten-free and nut-free too, which makes it easier for diners with strict dietary requirements.

They also host special pairing events featuring ingredients such as Oscietra caviar and Kampachi crudo.

The main downside is the central location, which can mean a longer journey from the suburbs.

Pros

  •
  • Menu rotates with lunar cycles
  •
  • Special caviar and sake pairing events

Cons

  • Location increases travel time for London suburban customers

You can truly taste the quality and attention to detail in every bite.

Wow, wow, wow! from beginning to end.

Juno Omakase was an unforgettable experience. Every course was beautifully thought out, perfectly balanced, and executed with such care and precision. You can truly taste the quality and attention to detail in every bite.

I can’t recommend enough.

Immaculate. From the atmosphere and service to the food, it was faultless. The luna omakase team went above and beyond (to the moon 😉 )

It’s not just food, it’s an experience that shouldn’t be missed. After having countless omakase experiences, this has been my favourite so far. I can’t recommend enough.

2. Juno Omakase

Website: https://www.juno-omakase.com/

Address: 2-4 Farmer Street, Notting Hill, W8 7SN

Contact: 020 7243 6436

Hours: Tuesday-Friday: 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM seatings; Saturday: 1:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 8:30 PM seatings; Sunday-Monday: Closed

Juno Omakase offers something quite different from a typical sushi counter. Hidden inside Los Mochis in Notting Hill, this six-seat private counter combines Japanese sushi traditions with vibrant Mexican flavors.

The 15-course menu includes dishes such as snow crab tacos, and I like the balance between raw fish and blowtorched toppings.

The storytelling behind each course makes the experience feel more engaging, especially if you’re looking for something memorable for a date night.

The drinks receive plenty of attention too, with an expert sommelier handling dedicated sake pairings.

The small setting also makes the meal feel personal. People I’ve spoken with have particularly enjoyed the unusual combination of Japanese and Mexican influences.

That said, they’re closed Sundays and Mondays, while Saturday is the only day with a 1:00 PM seating.

Pros

  • Exclusive 6-seat private room counter
  • Innovative Japanese and Mexican fusion
  • Dedicated wine and sake pairings
  • Fifteen-course menu with dishes like snow crab tacos

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays and Mondays

An unforgettable experience indeed.

Amazing and unique. I’ve been looking for a different omakase experience for a while and Juno really hit the spot with a magical touch of Mexican influence. Greatly appreciated the story-telling per course, truly captivating and interesting. An unforgettable experience indeed.

Address: 18 Shepherds Market, Mayfair, W1J 7QH

Contact: [email protected] (no phone number listed)

Hours: Saturday lunch: 12:30 PM-3:00 PM; Wednesday-Sunday dinner: 5:30 PM-11:00 PM

Maru London is a Mayfair omakase counter that puts a lot of emphasis on its ingredients and presentation.

The restaurant specialises in in-house dry-aged fish and builds its farm-to-table Japanese tasting menu around British and European ingredients.

The 16-course sushi menu follows the seasons, and I like how traditional Japanese techniques are used to highlight European seafood.

The dry-aged fish brings noticeable depth to the meal, while the overall presentation feels thoughtful and balanced.

Chef Maruyama oversees the details closely, right down to handmade ceramic crockery and fresh flowers. I think those touches make the experience feel personal without being distracting.

One thing to keep in mind is the timing. Dinner service usually starts around 25 minutes after your booked time.

Pros

  • In-house dry-aged fish specialties
  • Farm-to-table British and European ingredients
  •
  • Extensive 16-course sushi tasting menu

Cons

  • Service starts 25 minutes after the reservation time

A really memorable omakase experience in London.

The use of seasonal flowers and live floral arrangement added a beautiful sense of atmosphere to the meal without feeling forced or decorative. It made the whole dining experience feel calmer and more thoughtful.

The omakase is excellent!!

Absolutely loved Maru. The omakase is excellent!! It’s beautifully balanced, generous, and thoughtfully put together. I especially loved how much tuna featured across the menu, every piece was spot on.

My favourite was the box where there was a tuna roll 3 ways, brill and Wagyu, flavours were so well balanced and so well thought out!

4. Mayha London

Address: 43 Chiltern Street, W1U 6LS

Contact: 020 3161 9493

Hours: Tuesday-Saturday: Lunch 12:00 PM-2:30 PM, Dinner seatings at 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM; Sunday-Monday: Closed

Mayha London appeals to me if you prefer a small and intimate omakase experience. This 11-seat counter in Marylebone uses a ritual-style, chef-led format and offers both lunch and dinner services.

The lunch menu takes you through two starters, fresh nigiri, and dessert. There’s also a £78 lunch bento option if you want something more affordable.

I especially like the front-row view of the chefs working around the curved wooden counter. It makes their knife skills part of the experience and suits the quiet atmosphere.

The seafood is fresh, and the presentation is carefully done. I’ve also heard diners describe the experience as exceptional and say they’d happily return.

The main issue is planning ahead. Dinner doesn’t accept walk-ins, so you’ll need to book.

They also can’t accommodate every dietary requirement, so it’s worth checking before you reserve.

Pros

  •
  • Offers both lunch and dinner omakase
  •
  • Front-row view of chef knife skills

Cons

  • Walk-ins not allowed for dinner
  • Cannot accommodate all dietary needs

Will definitely be back!

I had omakase here before and absolutely loved it. My friend told me that there’s bento box in Mayha so we came for the bento box this time. The sashimi was really fresh of course as usual, every dish was beautifully presented, and the eel rice was delicious. The dessert was definitely the highlight. The service was warm, attentive as always. Will definitely be back!

5. RAI Restaurant London

Website: https://rairestaurant.com/

Address: 11-13 Bayley St, WC1B 3HD

Contact: 020 8149 6248

Hours: Monday-Thursday: 12:00 PM-3:30 PM and 5:30 PM-10:30 PM; Friday: 12:00 PM-3:30 PM and 5:30 PM-11:00 PM; Saturday: 12:00 PM-11:00 PM; Sunday: 12:00 PM-10:00 PM

RAI Restaurant London is worth considering if you want an omakase experience without spending as much as you might at some Central London counters.

Multi-course menus start from £59 and include premium ingredients such as A5 Japanese wagyu, sea urchin, and aged soy sauces.

I like the attention to detail, especially the fresh Fuji wasabi grated in front of you. It helps bring out the natural aromas of the fish.

Seven private tables and 12 counter seats give the restaurant a cosy feel, while the generous portions make the meal more filling than you might expect.

The combination of quality ingredients and relatively accessible pricing is what makes RAI appealing to me.

The main downside is the booking policy. You’ll need to provide credit card details when reserving a table.

Vegetarian and vegan diners also won’t be accommodated, so they’ll need to consider other restaurants in London.

Pros

  • Multi-course menus starting at £59
  • Serves A5 Japanese wagyu and certified Kobe beef
  • Fresh Fuji wasabi grated at the table
  • Aged soy sauces up to 32 years old

Cons

  • No vegan or vegetarian menu options
  • Requires credit card details for reservations

I was really shocked by how filling it was too

I celebrated my birthday last Monday at Rai and let me tell you it was an exquisite experience! We had the 11 course omakase menu and each course was so delicious I can’t describe how good it was, I was really shocked by how filling it was too wait till the end don’t assume it’s little portions it makes you so full. Every dish was made to perfection in my opinion. They had complimentary champagne for my birthday which was very kind of them. It was the cutest birthday celebration.
