5 Best POS Systems in London to Keep the Queue Moving
I’m a regular at several London gift shops, partly for the one-of-a-kind finds and partly because I appreciate a checkout that doesn’t test my patience. After all, a lovely little purchase loses its sparkle when the queue barely budges!
For shop owners, the best POS system in London should do more than take payments. It should help staff serve customers quickly and keep track of what’s selling.
I’ve looked at several options that could make life easier behind the counter. Here’s what each one brings to the till.
How much does a POS system cost in London?
A POS system in London typically costs £150 to £400 per month to run. The total depends on your software plan and card sales.
Software subscriptions cost £0 to £150+ per month. A hardware bundle costs £0 to £1,200 upfront, or up to £5,000 if you need multiple terminals.
Card processing fees range from 0.79% to 2.75% per transaction. The more card payments you take, the more these fees add to your monthly bill.
1. Lightspeed Commerce United Kingdom

Address: Hay’s Lane House, 2nd floor, 1 Hay’s Lane
Contact: +44 203 695 9599
Hours: 24/7 retail support; Monday to Friday, 8.30 AM-4.30 PM (office)
When I’m browsing in a shop, I’d rather admire the shelves than spend ages at the till.
Lightspeed’s retail POS brings payments, stock control, supplier information and customer records together, which could spare shop owners some end-of-day head-scratching.
I like that it can connect in-store sales with an online shop, especially when a popular item disappears from the shelves.
Lightspeed advertises one-on-one onboarding, account management and 24/7 support, though I’d check what’s included in my chosen plan before signing up.
However, the sticking point for a small shop is the price: retail plans start at £75 per month and rise to £189 per month.
Extra registers or locations can add to the bill, so I’d price up the full setup before letting this one behind the counter.

He ran through everything I might have needed to know
He ran through everything I might have needed to know; nothing was too much of a problem for him. Even though I had a few issues with setting a couple of things up, he was always patient and didn’t make me feel rushed. The back office is simpler to use than other software I have used before, which is super helpful as someone who isn’t that familiar with programming POS. It’s super efficient. Thanks Theo!

2. 3SPOS

Address: 1a Cecil Road
Contact: +44 (0)20 7034 3030
Hours: Monday to Friday: 9 AM – 4:30 PM; 24/7 technical support
I’ve watched enough busy London cafés juggle dine-in orders and deliveries to know a paper ticket can only do so much.
Thankfully, 3S POS brings orders, payments and kitchen displays into one hospitality-focused setup, so staff have fewer places to check when the lunch rush hits.
Its handheld ordering tools can send requests straight to the kitchen, while managers get stock control, rotas and sales reporting.
The company has over 20 years’ experience and has processed more than £2 billion in sales over the past 24 months, though that figure is its own.
But for the gift shops I frequent, the restaurant-heavy toolkit might feel like ordering a three-course meal when all you need is a biscuit.
I’d still ask for a retail demo before committing, especially if straightforward checkout and stock tracking are your main priorities.

A person named *Maurice* was on the other side, and he was a Star ⭐
I am not certain about the Sales team and other things, but I used to work at a restaurant, and the POS machine was having some issues one day when I was on shift.
I called the Technical Support for 3SPOS.
A person named *Maurice* was on the other end, and he was a Star ⭐.

Absolute legend!
Honestly, I can’t thank the 3spos support team enough, especially Raouf who helped me out today. Absolute legend! I was proper stuck with my issue, and instead of just giving me the usual copy-paste answers, Raouf walked me through everything step by step, dead clear and patient as anything.

3. Flipdish

Address: Mary Sheridan House, 11–19 St Thomas Street
Contact: 020 3868 3612
Hours: Office: Monday – Friday: 9 AM – 6 P; Customer support: Monday – Friday & Bank Holidays: 9 AM – 1 AM, Saturday – Sunday: 10 AM – 1 AM
I’ve seen enough London lunch queues to appreciate a kitchen that knows what’s coming before the next order lands.
Good thing Flipdish connects its POS with online orders and kitchen displays, helping staff keep tickets organised when the rush gets noisy.
I like that managers can update menus and check sales across channels without chasing figures through several screens. Its reporting covers ingredient costs too, which could help a café spot where its margins are getting nibbled away.
For the retail shops I frequent, though, Flipdish’s restaurant-focused tools would be more kitchen kit than I’d need behind the till.
Its kitchen display works within the Flipdish POS ecosystem, so venues wanting a separate screen should check compatibility before committing.

4. IPOSG – Trading Name of Retail Hardware Solutions Ltd

Address: 20-22 Wenlock Road
Contact: +44 (0)208 004 4618; [email protected]
Hours: 24/7 support
I love a London gift shop where the quirky finds are on the shelves and the checkout is refreshingly ordinary. That’s why I took note of IPOSG’s retail setup.
It links its EPOS, card payments and stock tools, giving shopkeepers fewer moving parts to juggle when customers pile up.
Its cloud tools let managers check sales and stock away from the till, which sounds handy when the shop has more than one pair of hands.
The company serves cafés and other hospitality venues too, and advertises support around the clock for customers.
Stil, I’d check the full quote before signing, including the hardware, payment and support terms.
Its seven-day hardware return provision covers unused items returned at your expense, so it isn’t a risk-free trial once the till has been put to work.

5. IKA Epos Ltd

Address: Unit B Watkins House, Pegamoid Road
Contact: Head Office: 020 8887 1578; Sales: 0333 800 2212; Tech Support: 0844 247 3100
Hours: Monday-Friday: 9 AM-6 PM; Saturday: 9 AM-2 PM
When a London shop I’m in gets busy, I’d rather see staff helping customers than wrestling with a stubborn till.
Luckily, IKA EPOS develops its own software and can tailor the setup to a shop’s workflow, with tools for stock control, customer records and sales reports.
I like that IKA supplies the hardware and handles installation and support, giving owners one place to turn when something needs sorting.
Its system supports touchscreen use and tablet access, while growing businesses can ask IKA to add functionality as their needs change.
There’s a cost detail I’d pin down before buying: one complete retail bundle includes only three months of software licence and support.
Business customers can’t return goods simply because they’ve changed their minds, so I’d get the longer-term costs and setup requirements clear before committing.
