The 5 Best Yoga Studios in London Worth Rolling Your Mat Out For

  • Teaching Experience: We ensured that instructors were highly qualified with certifications in yoga training programs. We looked for instructors with years of teaching experience and for how they support student progress.
  • Facilities & Equipment: We also evaluated the completeness and condition of yoga props and equipment.
  • Style & Variety of Classes: A top studio should offer diverse classes from Vinyasa to Restorative. We preferred studios that cater to all levels, from beginner to advanced.
  • Studio Atmosphere: We also sought studios with a welcoming, warm, and inclusive atmosphere. The space should be sufficient for the number of students and not overcrowded.
  • Location & Accessibility: We favoured studios that are ideally accessible to public transportation (tube stations, bus routes, or bike lanes). Easy booking through an online website is a plus, and flexible scheduling.
  • Student Feedback: Student feedback played a major role in our rankings. We paid attention to recurring comments about teaching quality, praises, and common complaints.

I remember being completely overwhelmed when I was juggling both work and school. The stress felt constant, both mentally and physically, and I knew I had to do something to reset.

Sleeping it off didn’t help much either, so I tried different ways to cope. I worked out, picked up knitting, and even tried forcing myself to read more, but none of it really stuck.

Then one friend casually suggested I try a yoga class at the college gym. I was skeptical; I thought it would be too slow, or that I’d get bored halfway through.

But halfway into that first session, something shifted. For the first time in weeks, my mind stopped racing. It felt like permitting myself to pause.

Ever since graduating, I’ve been on the lookout for yoga studios around London that give me that same feeling. If you’re searching for that too, here are my top recommendations.

How much does it cost to enrol in a yoga studio in London?

In London, drop-in yoga classes usually cost £15 to £25 per session. Monthly memberships typically range from £80 to £160, depending on the studio and class access.
Intro offers are common, often £30 to £60 for 2 to 4 weeks of unlimited classes.

Leading our list is Hot Yoga South, renowned for its high-energy hot yoga and pilates classes in the heart of Balham. You’ll find everything from gentler Warm Vinyasa Flow for mobility to Inferno Hot Pilates for those who want serious toning and sweat.

When we asked regulars what keeps them coming back, one thing came up again and again: the teaching. Instructors are deeply knowledgeable and attentive, offering clear guidance and individual correction throughout each session.

A lot of students even mention how they didn’t feel judged or out of place, which makes us confident that this is a studio we’d suggest to someone just starting out.

That sense of ease makes more sense once you hear about the space itself. The studio is clean, well-maintained, and has a calm, zen-like feel that supports the practice rather than distracting from it.

It isn’t perfect for everyone, though. The heated environment can be too intense for those sensitive to high temperatures. And the most popular time slots tend to fill up quickly, so you’ll want to book ahead.

Pros

  • Wide range of yoga classes
  • Highly engaged instructors
  • Beginner-friendly, supportive environment
  • Well-maintained studio

Cons

  • Popular sessions fill up fast
  • Heated classes may feel too intense for some

The instructors are knowledgeable

“Absolutely love Hot Yoga South! The instructors are knowledgeable, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the heat is just right. Classes are challenging yet accessible for all levels. The studio is clean, and the energy is amazing. Perfect place to sweat, stretch, and unwind. Highly recommend!”

The Triyoga at Candem is housed in a renovated Victorian warehouse, offering a wide range of yoga classes and wellness workshops.

The entire establishment has 5 fully equipped studios in total, including a far-infrared heated studio. This makes it easy for us to find a class that suits almost any of our schedules.

We especially like the yoga and barre rooms, which feel clean, calm, and well looked after. The showers are spotless, and having a sauna on-site is a lovely extra—it turns a regular class into more of a mini self-care outing.

The strong facilities are matched by the teaching, too. Instructors give clear verbal cues and thoughtful modifications, so beginners and more advanced students can share a class without feeling lost or held back.

One of my work colleagues specifically recommended their Pilates sessions, saying the instructor kept a close eye on form and controlled movement instead of rushing through the exercises.

If you want to make a full day of it, there are also treatment rooms offering massages, osteopathy, and other holistic therapies, which pair nicely with a class.

And for days when getting to Camden feels like too much, many sessions are live-streamed via Zoom—very handy if, like me, you sometimes prefer to stay home on the weekend but still want to move.

There are a couple of downsides. Popular classes can get crowded at peak times, which isn’t ideal if you value lots of personal space.

And contrary to Hot Yoga South, a few clients mentioned that the hot yoga studio doesn’t always feel warm enough for those who prefer a very heated practice.

Pros

  • Large studio space
  • Wide variety of yoga classes
  • Highly qualified instructors
  • On-site treatments and sauna
  • Well-maintained facilities
  • Option for online classes

Cons

  • Popular classes can become overcrowded
  • Hot studio is not always warm enough

Great atmosphere

“What a great yoga and pilates studio. This is a wonderful space with so many top teachers (including Phillipa, Nicola, Imogen, and Sarah, amongst many talented others) and everyone working here. Great cafe, great atmosphere. I tried a lot of different classes, and the standard is consistently high. Thanks for letting me practice here. Namaste 🙏🙏”

The staff were really accommodating

“The staff were really accommodating when I needed to make a last-minute rebooking of my class when I wasn’t feeling well, which I really appreciated! I went for 90 minutes of kundalini open — the instructor was very experienced, the atmosphere was calming and safe, and I felt recharged and at peace afterwards. The instructor was also really friendly and checked in on me before and after class, seeing that it was my first time at the studio. highly recommended!”

With puppies everywhere, yoga classes at Puppy Yoga London feel more like a gentle reset than a hardcore workout.

Their Puppy Yoga is described as calm and beginner-friendly, with more emphasis on unwinding than on holding tough poses or breaking a sweat.

On top of classes, they also run Puppy Therapy sessions for people who mainly want stress relief. They’re both suitable for all levels, so you’re really choosing between “more yoga” or “mostly cuddles” rather than different skill tiers.

To keep things focused, the puppies are only brought in toward the end of the class, so you get some quiet time on the mat before the petting begins.

Staff also take a clear, professional approach to the rules, explaining how to handle the pups so everyone (human and dog) stays safe and comfortable. They even quickly swoop in to clean up any little “accidents.”

But students say that this isn’t the spot for advanced practice or anyone chasing a physically demanding session.

Pros

  • Unique experience with puppies
  • Gentle and beginner-friendly yoga session
  • Offers puppy therapy sessions
  • Professional and well-informed staff

Cons

  • Not suitable for advanced or physically demanding practice

The vibe was so great and relaxing.

“Had an amazing Puppy therapy session at a university welcome event 🤗 the girls leading our session were awesome! They made sure everyone had time holding a puppy and got great photos ☀️🌻. The vibe was so great and relaxing. The puppies were adorable 🥰 tiny, energetic balls of fluff.”

Sasha, our host, was incredibly kind and welcoming.

“I had a wonderful experience at the puppy therapy session! Sasha, our host, was incredibly kind and welcoming. She created a warm, relaxed atmosphere and was more than happy to answer any questions and explain everything clearly. The golden puppies were absolutely adorable, and spending time with them was truly uplifting. It was a beautiful and calming experience—I’d highly recommend it to anyone in need of a little joy and relaxation.”

MoreYoga Elephant & Castle primarily offers hot yoga and heated fitness-based classes. Most of the timetable is focused on Vinyasa, Power Yoga, Pilates, Barre, and strength-focused flows.

Since a lot of the sessions run in infrared-heated rooms, the vibe is more towards a strong workout. Students even say they leave class feeling like they’ve really trained.

But for those hunting for candlelit yin and long savasanas, this might not be your place.

The whole place seems set up for that upbeat style of practice. Classes start and end on time, the flow from check-in to mat is pretty smooth, and the studio layout feels geared toward high-energy sessions rather than lounging.

People also describe the instructors as motivating and energetic, with clear, well-paced cues that help both newer and more experienced yogis keep up without feeling lost.

What we like from an inquiry point of view is their flexible membership pricing. It’s easier to go regularly without locking yourself into a heavy, long-term contract.

Facilities-wise, it’s more “gym studio” than spa. You get the essentials (changing areas and showers) but no treatment rooms or extra pampering bits, which fits their more fitness-focused feel.

Pros

  • Wide selection of yoga classes
  • Affordable and flexible membership
  • Features infrared-heated rooms
  • Highly motivating instructors with clear pacing

Cons

  • Less emphasis on meditative yoga styles

Most affordable yoga studio I could find in London

“Most affordable yoga studio I could find in London, lots of classes available, and you can use multiple studios across London. Sometimes the classes can be a bit overcrowded or tight for space, but if you go during off-peak hour this generally isn’t an issue. Love the studio and will keep coming back!”

Megan D’Souza, Google Review

Great mix of teachers and yogis

“I’ve tried a few of the MoreYoga studios, but this one is by far my favorite. Clean and large space with high ceilings and lots of light. Always a relaxing vibe, and great mix of teachers and yogis.”

Down to Earth Yoga is definitely a treasure for the soul, offering a good range of yoga and Pilates classes suitable for different experience levels.

From what regulars say, the beginner-friendly yoga sessions are really well-structured. The pacing feels manageable, the sequences are easy to follow, and the intensity is enough to feel worked but not wiped.

Even people who’ve never stepped into a studio before describe their first class as “surprisingly enjoyable” rather than intimidating.

A lot of that comes down to the teachers. Students mention that the instructors are skilled, grounded, and genuinely supportive, often taking a moment to adjust posture or offer small tips so you feel safe and looked after.

If you like going beyond drop-in classes, they also run special workshops, including sessions with big names like Eddie Stern, which is a nice bonus if you’re into deepening your practice.

On the practical side, we found the studio’s location to be very convenient, and having the option to join online makes it easier to keep a routine going from home.

Just take note that popular classes and workshops fill up fast, and the space can feel quite busy during peak hours.

Pros

  • Beginner-friendly yoga classes
  • Offers specialised workshops
  • Excellent relaxation massage services
  • Suitable for all levels
  • Skilled instructors
  • Convenient and accessible location
  • Availability of online classes

Cons

  • Popular classes and workshops fill up quickly
  • Classes can feel crowded during peak hours

Welcoming and friendly atmosphere

“I have been regularly attending Down to Earth for the past 2-3 years. Welcoming and friendly atmosphere, great teachers, and a good range of classes. It feels like a community.”
