The 5 Best Kids’ Dentists in London for Happy Little Smiles

Specialist Qualifications: We checked whether the clinic relies on general practitioners or dedicated specialists with hospital training. You want the person treating your child to be officially qualified for complex needs.

Child-Friendly Environment: Clinics that feel like playgrounds distract an anxious toddler before they even reach the chair. Our team looked for spaces that separate children from adult patients to reduce intimidation.

Treatment Range: Finding a new clinic during a toothache is stressful, so I checked who offers same-day urgent care. A good practice handles everything from preventive paints to complex root canals.

Pricing and Value: Private care costs money, so we compared what you actually get during an expensive initial consultation. I favoured clinics that include brushing tutorials in their standard check-up fees.

Focus on Prevention: Stopping decay early saves your family from painful extractions down the line. We noted which clinics spend time teaching young patients how to brush properly at home.

If getting your child to open their mouth for a toothbrush feels like a hostage negotiation, a trip to the dental clinic probably fills you with dread.

It’s hard enough managing a toddler’s fear without worrying whether the person holding the mirror actually knows how to calm them down.

If you want to skip the tears and the tantrums, you need a clinic that knows exactly how to handle tiny, anxious patients. Our team verified qualifications and compared treatment ranges across the city to help you choose.

Here’s where you can find the best kids dentist in London to keep those little smiles healthy.

How much does a kids’ dental check-up cost in London?

While basic treatments are free on the NHS for children under 18, booking a kids’ dental check-up in London typically ranges from £50 to £290, depending on the child’s age and the clinic’s expertise.

OptionTypical Price
NHS Routine CareFree
Private Routine Check-Up£50 to £175
Specialist Initial Consultation£185 to £290

1. Toothbeary – Children’s Dentist

toothbeary-childrens-dentist

Website: https://www.toothbeary.co.uk/

Address: 358a Richmond Road, East Twickenham

Contact: 020 8831 6870

Hours:

  • Monday: 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Tuesday to Thursday: 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Friday: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Saturday: 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM (once a month)

Finding a comfortable space for treatment matters, and Toothbeary caters exclusively to children aged 0 to 18.

The team is led by a director who has spent over two decades focused entirely on pediatric care. They handle everything from basic fissure sealants to complex extractions and space maintainers.

If your little one chips a tooth, they even function as emergency dentists to provide fast relief.

This fully tailored environment makes visits far less intimidating. We spoke to a parent who brought her crying four-year-old here, and she said the staff calmed him within minutes.

The catch is that weekend access is restricted, as they open on Saturdays just once a month. Emergency visits might also cause schedule conflicts during peak times.

Pros

  • Exclusively for children aged 0 to 18
  • Led by a highly experienced pediatric specialist
  • Offers emergency dental services
  • Wide range of pediatric treatments available

Cons

  • Saturday hours limited to once a month
  • Emergency availability can clash with peak hours

Great experience

We had a great experience at Toothbeary. Our 3-year-old had dental treatment under IV sedation, and everything went smoothly. The dentists, anaesthetist, and all the staff were incredibly kind, caring, and professional. They made us feel at ease and kept us well informed throughout the whole process. We are very grateful for the excellent care and would highly recommend Toothbeary.

Reassuring and child-friendly

I can’t recommend Toothbeary highly enough. My 3-year-old had a tooth removed under IV sedation, and from our very first appointment the entire team made what could have been a stressful experience feel calm, reassuring and child-friendly.

2. Treehouse Dental

treehouse-dental

Website: https://www.treehouse.dental/

Address: 5 The Broadway, Crouch End

Contact: 020 3143 1974

Hours: Monday, Friday: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM | Tuesday to Thursday: 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM | Saturday: 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Adult clinic waiting rooms often trigger instant fear, which is why Treehouse Dental built a dedicated children’s floor separate from the rest of their practice. This immersive space creates a personalised journey that helps kids actually enjoy their visit.

We love that they encourage parents to bring babies along to appointments to establish familiarity early. Their hygienists focus heavily on stopping decay before it starts by running interactive toothbrushing classes for young patients.

Teaching excellent habits between appointments means children require much less invasive treatment later on. Their strong educational approach keeps little teeth healthy while keeping your overall costs down.

However, you should know that their specialist paediatric dentistry availability is currently zero, as they’re still waiting for a new specialist to arrive. Plus, their service is heavily focused on prevention rather than complex surgery.

Pros

  • Dedicated children’s floor
  • Welcomes babies to build early familiarity
  • Interactive toothbrushing classes
  • Strong focus on excellent dental habits

Cons

  • Paediatric specialist availability is still 0
  • Primarily prevention-focused

Customer Reviews

I wish I’d had a dentist like this as a child

I’ve taken my 2 year old here since his first tooth came up. I’ve been given excellent advice on caring for his teeth, and the team and dentist have gone out of their way to create a friendly welcoming atmosphere. I can see my child developing in confidence at the dentist and feeling more comfortable being examined. At our last visit the dentist gave him a toy as a reward. I wish I’d had a dentist like this as a child!

Treehouse has been a dream – lovely setting, very child friendly

We were so nervous to change dentists for our 3 girls but needed a local venue. Treehouse has been a dream – lovely setting, very child friendly, supportive, calming, thorough, gentle, effective, patient, caring. Impeccable service from reception all the way through to our dentist Laith who has been just what the kids needed. So great we are moving our adult dentistry here too. Thank you thank you.

3. Maida Smiles Dental Clinic

Website: https://maidasmiles.co.uk/

Address: 207–209 Sutherland Avenue

Contact: 020 3583 9809

Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM | Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM

Maida Smiles Dental Clinic provides children’s dentistry within a multidisciplinary private practice. They accept babies through to teenagers, making them an easy choice if you’re transitioning from NHS care.

Check-ups start at £95, which covers a thorough assessment of your child’s developing mouth. A standard visit includes gum health checks, fluoride applications, and demonstrations of proper flossing techniques.

If your teen needs corrective bite treatment, they also offer braces and orthodontics alongside routine hygiene.

That said, this isn’t an exclusive children’s practice, so it’ll deter those who prefer a children-specialised clinic. Additionally, they require more travel time if you live in the southeast of the city.

Pros

  • Treats babies through to teenagers
  • Multidisciplinary clinic offering orthodontics
  • Thorough check-ups with diet and cleaning tips
  • Straightforward check-up pricing from £95

Cons

  • Not an exclusive kids’ practice
  • Further travel for South East London residents

Very organized and efficient

We love Maida Smiles!  They’re very organized and efficient with scheduling and flexible if we need to adjust our appointments.  Our experience with Dr. Shankar has been wonderful!  He always explains the process to my child and it’s been easy and calming.  10/10 recommend.

Great team and thank you for such wonderful care

Brilliant dentist. The best! Amazing service. A special thank you to Esti at front reception. She’s very pleasant, warm, professional and goes the extra mile. Always looking out for patients, even difficult tricky ones in a bad mood – she tries to calm them down and handles them calmly and with a pleasant demeanour. Dr Jessenia is brilliant, knowledgeable and safe hands as are all the other female dentist also Cintia and Ana Maria the ondodontist. Exemplary. Bravo ! Great team and thank you for such wonderful care! You are appreciated.

4. Weymouth Street Paediatric Dentistry

weymouth-street-paediatric-dentistry

Website: https://wpddentistry.co.uk/

Address: 33 Weymouth Street

Contact: 020 7580 5370

Hours: Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Established in 1973, Weymouth Street Paediatric Dentistry has built a long reputation for excellence in specialist care for kids and adolescents.

Their dentists completed five years of dental school plus three additional years of hospital-based specialist training. This deep expertise means they confidently handle complex medical conditions and special needs.

Beyond standard check-ups, they manage severe dental injuries, primary tooth trauma, and advanced extractions safely.

When we called their reception about pacifier habits affecting jaw development, the staff gave us incredibly detailed, patient advice right over the phone. They also serve as an emergency provider for existing patients who need immediate help.

Unfortunately, they’re closed on weekends entirely, which makes scheduling tricky for families with school-aged children. Relying on them for urgent care might also lead to schedule conflicts during peak hours.

Pros

  • Dentists have extra hospital-based specialist training
  • Equipped for complex medical and special needs
  • Comprehensive education on oral habits provided
  • Emergency care available for existing patients

Cons

  • Completely closed on Saturdays and Sundays
  • Emergency availability can conflict with peak times

Absolutely wonderful

I cannot recommend Weymouth Street Paediatric Dentistry highly enough! My 7-year-old son needed a tooth extraction, and I was really anxious about how he would cope — he has always been terrified of the dentist. From the moment we arrived, the team were absolutely wonderful with him. They took the time to explain everything clearly and reassured him every step of the way, completely putting him at ease.

Incredibly lucky to have found this practice

I cannot thank Dr. Attari and her team enough for the care they gave my son. We feel incredibly lucky to have found this practice, and I would recommend them wholeheartedly to any parent looking for truly exceptional paediatric dental care.

5. Dentistree Battersea

dentistree-battersea

Website: https://www.dentistreebattersea.co.uk/

Address: 1 Ashness Road, Battersea

Contact: 020 7223 2029

Hours: Monday to Thursday: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM; Friday: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Trust is vital in this trade, and Dentistree Battersea brings more than 30 years of service to local families. They combine children’s preventive care with general and cosmetic dentistry.

The staff regularly apply safe fluoride treatments and tooth-coloured fissure sealants to vulnerable biting surfaces.

If an accident happens on the playground, they offer a same-day service for toothaches and chipped teeth. Treating a problem quickly stops a minor fracture from turning into an agonising abscess.

On the other hand, this is a family practice rather than a dedicated pediatric clinic, so the space lacks immersive child themes. Their kids’ service is also primarily preventive in scope rather than surgical.

Still, they’re a brilliant fit for families transitioning from NHS to private care who want solid prevention.

Pros

  • Over 30 years of local family service
  • Same-day service for dental emergencies
  • Fluoride and sealant treatments available
  • Early detection of underbites and crossbites

Cons

  • Not a dedicated paediatric clinic
  • Children’s services are mainly preventive

Customer Reviews

Fantastic dentist especially for young children

Both me and my young kids have been coming to the clinic for years. Kids have been seeing Dr. Darshak who is a fantastic dentist especially for young children. Dr Ben is an artist for composite bonding. Recently I checked in for hygiene with Tracy T. She is the best hygienist I’ve ever had. She has shared loads of useful information and suggestions for a better oral health. And one thing to mention, the receptionists are always friendly and ready to help. Thank you! I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone any age.

Wonderful practice

I’ve been coming to Dentistree for more than 30 years (since I was a child) and now bring my own children. It’s a wonderful practice, with both great dentists and a family feel that puts us all at ease. I would highly recommend it to anyone living in the area.
