Find relief with the 5 best oral surgeons in London for complex procedures

Consultation Process: I checked how well each clinic reviews your medical history. A rushed first visit can lead to poor results, so I wanted clear options before any surgery.

Specialist Expertise: I looked at each surgeon's background. I wanted to know if they focus on routine extractions or complex rebuilding work.

Surgical Technology: I noted which clinics use 3D imaging and gentle tools. Good equipment can cut recovery time and lower risks.

Scheduling and Access: I compared opening hours and remote visit options. I also checked for out-of-hours care, since quick appointments matter when you're in pain.

I ignored a clicking jaw for a year until eating an apple became a daily hazard. Waiting only makes dental problems cost more to fix.

If you need a hard extraction or jaw surgery, you want a specialist you can trust. I checked credentials and first-visit terms for clinics across the capital.

Below is my guide to the best oral surgeon in London for each need.

1. Mr Manolis Heliotis – Maxillofacial, Oral & Orthognathic Surgeon

mr-manolis-heliotis-maxillofacial-oral-orthognathic-surgeon

Website: https://manolisheliotis.co.uk/

Address: Doctors Surgery, 152 Harley Street, W1G 7LH

Contact: 020 7042 1810 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Mr Manolis Heliotis is a good call for hard extractions and dental cysts. His practice has done thousands of successful operations, so a stuck tooth is familiar ground.

They do more than extractions too. The team also places complex dental implants, even for patients with facial defects from birth or trauma.

Jaw joint problems are covered as well. Mr Kohmal Solanki is a consultant surgeon on the team who replaces damaged jaw joints.

A friend of mine had a complex sinus lift there, and she said the team worked directly with her regular dentist on the follow-up work.

Finding the right site can be confusing, though. Mr Heliotis works at several locations, so confirm where you’re booked before you travel.

Pros

  • Coordinates directly with general dentists
  • Offers temporomandibular joint replacement surgery
  • Performs complex implant placements
  • Handles severe jaw and dental cysts

Cons

  • Operating across multiple clinics can cause confusion
  • Central location requires longer travel for suburban patients

Customer Reviews

I was very satisfied with both my hospital day patient experience and the result of my oral surgery.

Right from my initial consultation, Mr Heliotis was a reassuring and considerate consultant. My options for surgery were clearly explained, and I was fully involved in the decision-making process. I was very satisfied with both my hospital day patient experience and the result of my oral surgery.

I cannot thank him enough for what he has done for me.

Mr Heliotis and the team took me through a double jaw surgery in late 2025. The results have been amazing. He answered all questions and provided any information and reassurance I needed for the procedure. I cannot thank him enough for what he has done for me.

2. Harley Street Maxillofacial Clinic

harley-street-maxillofacial-clinic

Website: https://harleystreetmaxillofacialclinic.com/

Address: 107 Harley Street, W1G 6AL

Contact: 020 7935 8627 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM | Out-of-hours appointments can be arranged

Harley Street Maxillofacial Clinic puts several specialists under one roof. That helps when chronic facial pain needs input from more than one field.

It makes problems like burning mouth syndrome or nerve pain in the face easier to manage.

Their doctors also spend your first visits learning your medical history. They ask how the condition affects your daily life before suggesting surgery.

Then, they treat everything from impacted wisdom teeth to salivary gland disorders.

They also place dental implants to support crowns and dentures. That makes them worth a look if you’re comparing dentists in London for implant work.

They aren’t an oral surgery-only clinic, though. If you want a pure specialist, the broad setup and Harley Street location may not suit you.

Pros

  • Out-of-hours appointments available by arrangement
  • Treats nerve pain and burning mouth syndrome
  • Multidisciplinary team in one building
  • Places implants for crowns and dentures

Cons

  • Broad focus may not suit those seeking an oral surgery-only clinic
  • Harley Street location means extra travel from outer boroughs

Customer Reviews

Dr Shakib has been such an amazing and kind doctor.

Dr Shakib has been such an amazing and kind doctor. I came here to remove my left side wisdom teeth and honestly amazed with how painless the experience was.

The whole process on the operation day, including the time I got in and left, took around 2 hours (which was very speedy). I was under general anaesthesia throughout the whole procedure and was taken care by so many caring staff. Lastly, I was provided with very good painkillers and antibiotics afterwards. I hardly felt any pain and was back to work in 3 days

Had a great experience with Prof Shakib and his team getting two wisdom teeth removed.

Had a great experience with Prof Shakib and his team getting two wisdom teeth removed. Everyone (nurses, the anaesthetist) was professional and put me at ease before the procedure. I had the procedure done under sedation and local anaesthesia and didn’t experience any pain. Recovery was also smooth. They prescribed a long-acting NSAID that was effective and again I didn’t experience any pain. Hopefully I don’t have to remove the other two teeth but in case I do, I would return.

3. Mr Karim Kassam

mr-karim-kassam

Website: https://www.londonoralfacialsurgery.co.uk/

Address: 1 Beaumont Square, Stepney, E1 4NL

Contact: 07866 807608 | 07956 229992 | [email protected]

Hours: Alternate Fridays, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Remote clinics Monday-Wednesday, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Mr Karim Kassam does rebuilding work after serious facial injury. He combines standard oral surgery with advanced reconstruction work.

That makes him a strong option for misaligned jaws or head and neck cancer.

His training also covers removing facial skin cancer and tumours in the salivary glands. He even treats jaw joint problems and offers cosmetic surgery like nose reshaping and face lifts.

I spoke to a former patient who liked how the team explained jaw realignment. That made the scary operation much easier to handle.

His schedule is the catch. In-person visits only happen on alternate Fridays, so you’ll need to look elsewhere for urgent daytime care during the week.

Pros

  • Subspecialises in microvascular reconstruction
  • Removes and reconstructs facial skin cancer
  • Corrects misaligned jaws from trauma
  • Offers remote evening consultations

Cons

  • In-person visits limited to alternate Fridays
  • Remote clinics only run three nights a week

Dr Kassam was absolutely incredible! He was very calm and friendly and I felt very relaxed during the procedure. Dr Kassam is super responsive and gave me a lot of information about the wisdom teeth extraction procedure and I felt like I was in very good hands. Would definitely recommend.

Mr Kassam is one of a rare breed of surgeons who has a fantastic and empathetic clinical manner.

I underwent wisdom tooth extraction under local anaesthetic with Mr Kassam. Mr Kassam is one of a rare breed of surgeons who has a fantastic and empathetic clinical manner in addition to his obvious expertise and technical skill. He made himself readily available throughout to address even the most minor of concerns or queries I had regarding my treatment. I felt consistently that my needs and experience as the patient were acknowledged and held in the utmost respect.

4. Mr Alastair Fry – Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

mr-alastair-fry-oral-and-maxillofacial-surgery

Website: https://alastairfry.com/

Address: The Cromwell Hospital, 164-178 Cromwell Road, SW5 0TU

Contact: 020 7341 8959

Hours: Monday-Sunday, 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Mr Alastair Fry removes salivary gland stones with tiny cameras. This method is called sialoendoscopy, and it keeps the gland safe.

His medical and dental training lets him treat the full range of jaw problems, running from harmless cysts to cancerous tumours.

He also runs a practice for routine wisdom tooth surgery and dental implants.

He doesn’t offer emergency care, though. For an urgent problem, you can look into an emergency dentist in London instead.

Also, getting an appointment takes some planning. You need a private referral for his services. He also splits his time between two hospitals, which can cause scheduling clashes.

Pros

  • Uses small cameras to preserve salivary glands
  • Dual medical and dental qualifications
  • Performs wisdom tooth surgery
  • Manages benign cysts and malignant tumours

Cons

  • Requires a private referral for hospital services
  • Splitting time between hospitals creates schedule conflicts

Customer Reviews

The surgery went smoothly and I didn’t have any pain after the operation.

Dr. Fry is amazing! I couldn’t have chosen a better doctor. I had an extremely positive experience. He did his best in booking my surgery as early as possible (even during COVID times). The surgery went smoothly and I didn’t have any pain after the operation. He came to ask how I felt before and after the operation – I felt very reassured.

I would highly recommend.

Would definitely recommend!

I had a relatively complicated wisdom tooth removal surgery under General Anesthesia with Mr Fry. I really liked his calm and positive demeanor in the initial consultation. He instilled confidence in all our discussions, and engaged with all my questions. The surgery itself, which he did at Cromwell Hospital, went smoothly, and I have pretty much fully recovered. Would definitely recommend!

5. Nabeel Bhatti @MaxFac London – Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

nabeel-bhatti-maxfac-london-oral-maxillofacial-surgery

Website: https://maxfaclondon.co.uk/

Address: 107 Harley Street, W1G 6AL

Contact: 020 3912 7276 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Nabeel Bhatti at MaxFac London plans complex extractions with care. He uses 3D imaging to map impacted wisdom teeth before making a single cut, which protects the nerves around them.

That careful approach carries over to the rest of the clinic. They also do surgery for facial injuries and uneven jaws.

I love that living outside the capital doesn’t have to hold you back from visiting. They offer a secure 30-minute video consultation, then a summary letter follows.

You also get a clear surgical plan before you travel. That saves you a train trip just to have your records checked.

Timing is the one catch. The clinic is closed on weekends, so enquiries on Saturdays and Sundays can take a full working day to review.

Pros

  • Maps teeth with 3D imaging before surgery
  • Offers secure video assessments for remote patients
  • Performs double-jaw and facial asymmetry operations
  • Sends a detailed clinic letter after video consultations

Cons

  • Closed entirely over the weekend
  • Enquiries take a full working day to process

Customer Reviews

Absolutely stellar!

I couldn’t haven’t asked for a more seamless, welcoming, caring and personable experience for what could otherwise only be described as a painful experience (I had a wisdom tooth extraction). I got all the information and reassurance I need, I felt like I was in good hands. Dr Bhatti was friendly and personable, we had a little banter, explained the medical things I needed to know, and there were no surgery complications either during or after. Absolutely stellar!
