Customer Service: We preferred medical staff who are respectful, attentive, and responsive to ensure clear and seamless communication throughout.

Wait Times: We chose clinics that provide minimal to no delays in bookings, updates, queueing, and follow-ups for efficiency.

Ever since we were kids, my friend has had a great maternal instinct. When we were playing with dolls, she always assigned herself as our ‘mum’. So when we grew up, I thought it was only a matter of time until she got kids of her own.

But a year after her wedding, she was still not pregnant. She started getting worried, so she went to a few gynaecologists in London to compare their diagnoses. As it turns out, there were a couple of issues to sort out, but she got past them.

She finally understood why conception was taking longer than expected, and it was great that she didn’t have to blame herself for all of it. If you need assistance with anything about women’s health, here are the top options she considered.

How much do gynaecologist clinics charge in London?

Gynaecologist clinics in London charge between £200 and £400 for an initial consultation. Extra costs depend on the location, tests and scans, procedures, care complexity, follow-ups, and additional services.

London Gynaecology is a private consultant group with several central-London locations and consulting suites at The Portland Hospital. This multi-site footprint offers patients a lot of flexibility.

The fact that they’re based at one of the UK’s leading private gynaecology facilities makes them reputable for many women. We think this differentiates them from smaller clinics, as they provide consultations and advanced procedures under one roof.

They offer a wide range of services, from routine to advanced surgery. Covering both outpatient care and complex surgical pathways makes them a go-to for all kinds of patients.

One of them even raved to us about getting clear explanations and gentle reassurance here. Backing this up are the hospital-standard rooms with adequate amenities, such as on-site ultrasound, secretarial support, and in-hospital theatre access.

Just a heads-up: they operate privately, so they’re not ideal for those seeking free NHS appointments at the same site.

Pros

  • Multiple central London locations
  • Based in a leading private gynaecology hospital
  • Consultations and advanced procedures in one place
  • Broad service range
  • Strong patient feedback
  • Well-equipped hospital-grade rooms

Cons

  • Pricier than NHS-funded options

Business hours:

  • Mon–Fri: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Sat-Sun: Closed

As a consultant-led private gynaecology practice, Harley Street Gynaecology specialises in outpatient care. All their consultants hold senior NHS posts, which brings their hospital expertise into private practice.

Leading all this is their founder, Dr Ashfaq Khan, who’s a high-volume colposcopist. So if you need lower-genital tract care, we believe he’s one of your best options in the city.

That kind of expertise shows in how they run their appointments. Patients describe the staff as professional and friendly during the consultations. It helps that they didn’t wait long for same-day and next-day scans, either.

But while they have advanced tools for colposcopy and pelvic issues, their smaller team scale may limit their capacity to handle complex cases.

Pros

  • Consultant-led team with senior NHS experience
  • Strong specialised gynaecological care expertise
  • Professional and friendly staff
  • Fast access to same-day or next-day scans

Cons

  • Smaller capacity than bigger clinics

Kind, considerate, and trustworthy doctor

“He is a very kind, considerate and trustworthy doctor. I was a bit nervous about going to the gynecologist, but he always treated me kindly with a smile, so even though I don’t speak English, I was able to come here with peace of mind. The interpreter was also very helpful, which was very reassuring. He listened to me carefully, so I’m really glad I came here for treatment. Thank you very much.”

As a multi-site specialist group, Grosvenor Gardens Healthcare runs two London clinics in Belgravia and Dulwich. This conveniently allows a good mix of central access and broader community services.

What adds more value to that setup is that they can provide families with assistance with a broad range of issues, including maternity, women’s health, and paediatrics.

And if you look at what they can do in-house, they use advanced prenatal screening and 3D and 4D ultrasound to offer non-invasive prenatal testing options.

Of course, good equipment only matters if the experience is a good match. According to the patients we spoke to, they find the team attentive from booking to aftercare. The process is made even smoother with same-day access for scans and consultations.

One downside, though, is that they haven’t had new service rollouts recently. Aside from fertility assessments and genetic testing, some patients might find their offerings limited.

  • Offers advanced prenatal screening
  • Available non-invasive testing
  • Attentive team

If you only need imaging and diagnostic services rather than full surgical or obstetric packages, The Gynaecology Ultrasound Centre is a private clinic you can visit.

One thing that makes them stand out from general practice options is their high-quality ultrasound and early-pregnancy equipment. The regulator Care Quality Commission even rated them ‘Good’ overall due to this standard.

It’s not just the tech, though. Several patients shared with us how calm they felt during their sessions. The staff regularly checks their comfort level and explains the findings clearly.

But even with all these positives, we noted earlier that they only offer diagnostics. Those with ongoing care or treatment might require referral elsewhere.

Pros

  • Specialised in imaging and diagnostics
  • High-quality equipment
  • Good rating from Care Quality Commission
  • Attentive staff who explain findings clearly
  • Comfortable, patient-friendly environment

Cons

  • Lacks services beyond imaging and diagnostics
